Tommy is the Director of Ticketing & Hospitality and has 3 years in the pro sports & entertainment industry. Mr. Knapp also host and promote special events and social/business networking events thru the Tommy Knapp Group.
Hobbies and/or non-work related activities: Very involved with my children (Zane 3 ½ & Bryce 7 months) and find my greatest joy and laughter sharing their lives with my wife, Michele. Also, avid sports fan, skier/snowboarder, work out and meditate routinely, photography and writing, love to read about everything from transcendental meditation and business leadership to philosophical musings and fictional thrill rides. World travel and cultural immersion is a passion engrained deep in my soul. I love music and have a secret desire to be a Rock n’ Roll star when I grow up.

Something about you (inspirational/philosophical or something that no one knows): My wife and a few other people know but I have had a yearning, for about 10 years now, to challenge myself to live on the beach for one month with nothing but a pair of flip flops, a pair of shorts and a shirt. The desire is based on years of traveling the world and may be complex for the various reasons I have thought about doing it but is quite uncomplicated at the core in that I want to simply experience the essence of life without all of the controls…time, money, possessions, etc. Inspirational, maybe not – philosophical, I think so.
Other Charities/Organizations you’re involved with: I have been a Big Brother for half a dozen years, a foster parent (with my wife) for nearly 50 pets through the Broward Humane Society and am involved with a number of other organizations such as Take Stock in Children, Pet Set and the Women’s Cancer Association. I also serve or have served on various board’s/committee’s including the South Florida Sports Super Pass, TAG - The Ascendance Group and the GMCC Sports Hall of Fame.
Why are you a member? or Why do you believe in the Chamber? As mentioned previously, I believe the Chamber is a tremendous asset for anyone who wants to take advantage of all the resources it places at your fingertips. I believe in the people at the Chamber and their charge to help foster the growth of business in our community. Project 100 is just one shining example of this vision and leadership.
What makes Fort Lauderdale such a great City to (own a business/live/work) in? This city is dynamic and beautiful. Being sandwiched in between Miami and West Palm just makes it that much more interesting and exciting. It is next to impossible to be bored (if you’re bored than your boring) and the environment is ripe for any entrepreneur or individual who wants to grow. I moved from Syracuse, New York nearly 10 years ago and have considered it my home ever since and I am truly blessed and grateful to be able to raise my children here. |
